Balham kicked off the Christmas season on Saturday (26th November) with the annual Balham Festive Evening. The Balham Community Space tree lights were switched-on by the Mayor of Wandsworth Cllr Jane Cooper and Samuel Estates Mascot Santa Sam. There were performances from the Balham Ukulele Society, Chestnut Grove School Steel Band and the South London Choir plus local residents took the opportunity to join in with some community carol singing, led by Churches Together in Balham and Upper Tooting.
A variety of seasonal refreshments from local businesses were also on offer and many children had their photos taken with the Samuel Estates mascot Santa Sam. The Balham Festive Evening was organised by The Balham Partnership and sponsored by us Samuel Estates, Access Self Storage, The Bedford, Sainsbury's, Southern Railway and Wandsworth Council.
The Christmas celebrations in Balham will continue next month with seasonal markets every Sunday 10am-4pm in Hildreth Street and the Ritherdon Road Christmas Street Party on Sunday 11th December which Samuel Estates are also sponsoring.
